I Am Going to Break the Cycle

Lately I've been coming to realize that I am getting to my Mid-Twenties (ok, 22) and I need to start being a productive adult. By this, I don't mean working for "the man" but becoming organized and productive so that I can reach my own personal goals and have a better quality life. Some things that I have come across that are very handy and inspiring so far:

1) The 43 Folders blog is always full of useful advice, links and nerdy productivity boosters.

2) I am going to read David Allen's Getting Things Done.

3) As I type I am printing out a PDF of Robert Frank's How Not to Buy Happiness. I've heard very good things about this essay which shows that it is how one spends their time and focus's their energy and relationships that create happiness, not material well being. This will hopefully be the first step in simplifying my life a bit and coming out happier on the other end.

4) Similarly, I think that my switch to the New Community house church will line-up with the "How Not to Buy Happiness" essay by simplifying life, fostering healthier relationships and getting me on track with my personal devotions. I love how the Bible speaks to our culture when we let it and actually lines up with what the scientific evidence of "leading a happy life" says.

5) I just read "How To Become An Early Riser", a quick blog post about how to change one's sleep patterns so that the perpetual late-riser can get into the habit of getting up early. This would be a huge boon for me - I've tried to do this for years and years to no avail. I'll post an update on this sometime soon.
